I wanted to share some of my market positioning experience with two Montreal startups: Smartbox Software(Internet sold plugin) and Solabs (a classic enterprise level application). Although their target markets and entry strategies are quite different, I believe the steps to achieve business success are very similar.
Having a great idea is exhilarating. Transforming this idea into a thrivingbusiness is even more satisfying. A common belief about starting a new business is that you need to devise
a comprehensive market study for your idea. You then start researching the market data (on the Internet and from other sources) that will support your idea. Your aim is to achieve a comprehensive view of your prospective client and the needs you can fulfil.
