city of montrealRoberto Rocha put up a list of apps that were built using Montreal’s open data. He’s categorized them into Web apps, iPhone apps and Android apps. Most of the apps were built by citizens.

In October last year the City of Montreal opened up a number of data sets for anyone to use. Hopefully they continue to make more data available.

Here’s the full list: http://blogs.montrealgazette.com/2012/01/23/list-of-apps-for-montreal/.

A few examples:

  • Resto-Net is a map of restaurants that have been fined for hygiene infractions.
  • Patiner Montreal is a map of skating rinks and their present conditions (also available on Android)
  • MaMarie is a compendium of elected city officials, including contact info, social media participation, and recent news. Developers Open North plan on adding voting records.
