Alliance MobiliteAlliance Mobilité is officially launching today with a cocktail networking event at Daylight Factory (1030 rue St. Alexandre). Alliance Mobilité is an organization designed to bring together all the different actors that make up Quebec’s mobile industry. The organization has been in development since February 2011, with the goal of forming a cohesive ecosystem and be the voice for the mobile industry. Martin Dufresne, Director of Alliance Mobilité says, “Our main goal is to position Quebec as an innovative and a world-class Mobile Centre of Excellence. Our motto is Unite. Promote. Inform.” The president of the organization is André Lauzon, Executive Producer EA Mobile.

Alliance Mobilité is made up of 4 committees (Event, R&D, Finance and Networking) of over 20 professionals from telcos to VC’s, entrepreneurs to developers and solution providers in the mobility space. They meet regularly to develop activities and services for the Mobile community. Together they contribute to the recognition of local expertise and help position Quebec as a center of advanced skills in mobility.

The Event committee is putting together MOBIZ, Quebec Mobile Congress a new event that will be held on October 31st. MOBIZ will feature keynotes, panels and presentations from key local and international speakers. Participants will hear about the latest technology developments, case studies, best practices, and innovative ways of using mobile technologies in enterprises and everyday life. More news will be announced in the coming months.

The Finance committee is dedicated in helping companies accelerate their time to market by facilitating dialogue and fund access between companies in mobility, investors, clients and governments through knowledge transfer, best practices, and seminars.

The R&D group is there to inform the community about new trends in mobile and share knowledge. For that, it created a blog and brought together over a dozen collaborators to post articles on various subject pertaining to mobility.

Finally, the Networking committees’ mandate is to organize meetings to favor networking and partnerships to bring together the Quebec mobile ecosystem. It is launching a new initiative to create the most elaborate mobile business directory. All companies and entrepreneurs specializing in mobile can fill the Company Profile Sign-Up page in order to be part of the directory. (Here’s the French link as well.) This tool will create a true portrait of who’s who in mobile in Quebec, help potential clients seeking solutions find the right partner, and promote local expertise internationally.

Monday’s event is to:

  • Invite all stakeholders of the Quebec Mobile industry to sign-up their company to the mobile directory.
  • Promote the blog and the posts from the many collaborators.
  • Create awareness for Alliance Mobilité.
  • To have fun with cool people!
