Jeremiah Owyang of Altimeter Group, presented an exceptional keynote on “The State and Future of Social Business”.
From his impeccable delivery, to the insights he gave on trends in web and social, Owyang had the audience hanging on to his every last word.
Some of the trends he shared:
- Social trend: Paid, owned and earned media is converging. To be heard, you will pay. Think: Sponsored Stories on Facebook.
- More automation of social through social performance software
- Companies still don’t know how to integrate social into their websites, which could also be a metaphor for social in their company. Owyang suggests that brands will move away from sending their hard-earned traffic away (by linking out to social profiles) and create a more social experience on their website (see next point).
- Corporate Websites reborn: Static websites as we know them will no longer be relevant. Content needs to assemble on the fly depending on user context + social graph.
