Today, Sylvain Carle and Sebastien Provencher both announced that they’re leaving Needium (the company they co-founded originally as Praized Media.) Their last day is Friday, March 2nd, 2012.
You can read Sylvain’s post here: My Way.
Here’s Sebastien’s post: Moving On (And Looking for New Opportunities).
The guys started Praized Media back in 2007, and pivoted to Needium in 2010. Since then the company has grown considerably, and according to their blog posts, things are going well. In Sylvain’s blog post he wrote:
The great thing when you build a startup, when you architect your company as much as your platform, is that given the time and the means, these things scale, mature and somehow get a life of their own. I am really proud of what we have collectively built in those 5 years. It was a fantastic roller coaster ride (ask any startup founder about it). I had the privilege to work with an awesome team. I wish them the best of luck going forward.
Our company is now at another phase of it’s life, it’s all about sales, revenues, market share. As a shareholder, I hope to see it grow and continue scaling in this emerging social media market for SMBs. But as a maker, hacker, thinker, tinkerer, builder, as a geek artiste, I had to admit to myself that my heart was no longer in it.
I’ve reached out for more details.
Sylvain is not saying what he’s doing next, but I’m sure he’ll explore a bunch of great opportunities and move on to something interesting. Sebastien is looking beyond Montreal:
I’m looking for international experience. I’d like to work in Europe or in the United States as a senior exec in a media/Internet company (large or small).
I’ve known both guys for years, and have always enjoyed the time we spent together. They’ve been tireless supporters of the Montreal tech startup community, and I know they’ve helped many startups as advisors (officially and otherwise.) No matter where they end up, I wish them the best of luck … and we’ll follow their stories (and that of Needium’s as well!) going forward.
